LEGENDARY MTV VJ ADAM CURRY HOSTS THE FIRST-EVER INDEPENDENT MUSIC SUMMIT AND MUSIC-TECH BOOSTAGRAM BALL LIVE EVENT IN AUSTIN

Independent music and technology pioneer, Adam Curry, has partnered with Tunestr and Phantom Power Music to bring a two-day event to Austin focused on empowering the independent music community and examining the impact of technology on the lives of artists; past, present and future. 

This first-of-its-kind event is being held in Austin, Texas as it stands in the crossroads of where indie music and technology collide, and whose reputation as Live Music Capital of the World has been challenged by large technology firms pricing out much of the creative community.

Curry, a music legend from his MTV days as VJ and host of Headbangers Ball, has been dubbed the“Podfather” for being the inventor of modern podcasting, and now has turned his musical focus to decentralized technologies that truly empower artists in a way that the big tech industry has not. His team will begin the two-day event with an educational summit to discuss key issues and opportunities, followed by an artist showcase the next evening to demonstrate many of the tools in use. The two-day event highlights how this grassroots movement of free, open-source technology can fulfill the promise that centralized technological advancements have historically failed the music community. 

INDEPENDENT MUSIC SUMMIT

TheIndependent Music Summit begins on Sunday, December 15 at 12:00 PM and is a half-day mini-conference tailored to independent musicians, singers, songwriters, and artists in a small, intimate setting for the technology-curious. Materials will provide education, networking opportunities, technology demos, and anecdotes of live performances to empower independent artists.  Topics will include the decentralized technologies that are allowing artists to bypass traditional gatekeepers and create financially independent careers on their own terms.  Attendees will also be shown demos of progressive web and mobile technologies which are already reshaping the internet and offering alternatives to current big-tech platforms and the social media rat race.

During the event, artists and creators will also be able to connect with the panelists, technology developers, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs in an intimate setting.  Attendees will gain actionable insights into decentralized music distribution, social media alternatives, and cutting-edge payment systems designed to help artists connect directly with fans and foster lasting relationships.

BOOSTAGRAM BALL LIVE

The second and final day features a live concert of thirty minute sets by Austin's SOB and the Dangswho will bring the funk grooves; Hill Country-based alt-rockersFM Rodeo; Nashville pop-rocker Ainsley Costello, also leading the musical charge in Web 3 and lightning-enabled technology; and revered local one-man funk dynamo and eternal crowd-pleaserHenry Invisible, plus special surprise guests from Austin and beyond
